Rock Band Rocks!

I know, this is old news but I just got this game for the Playstation 2. It’s still hard to find the special edition that comes with not only a guitar, microphone, drum kit and the game itself but also a $167 price tag. Even though its a bit pricey, the bonus is the gear works on the PS3 as well so if I upgrade, I just have to buy the new version of the game.

The game itself is amazing. The drums have a good response and solid feel to them and I really like the guitar much better than the guitar hero guitars. The guitar is modeled after the iconic Fender Stratocaster made famous by so many rockers. I’ve heard you can even learn to play real drums because of this game since the motions are so similar. I haven’t put that to the test yet but I can play some solid drums on the easy setting so far.

I remember when I first got Karaoke Revolution and then Guitar Hero I said to my wife how awesome it would be if you could do both of those games in one…that was about 3 years ago. I totally predicted this because I’m awesome!

Anyway, this is a must have for any party because its insanely fun. The gear doesn’t take up too much space and easily breaks down into core components for easy storage. You can even buy a bag now for both the guitar and the drum kit to easily carry your gear to your next “gig”.

I Am Iron Man!

Iron Man Ticket StubIt’s official. Iron Man is awesome. How do I know?

You see that ticket stub? I went the the first official show at 8pm tonight cuz I’m awesome! yeah! That’s right, I saw the first show.

Ok, but seriously, it’s really good. I’m so glad I bought a bunch of Marvel (NYSE: MVL) stock yesterday because this movie is a savior for the company and is launching a new franchise. Where Spider Man failed, Iron Man succeeds and I have to say it is because of Jon Favreau at the helm. He and Robert Downey Jr. hold this film together so tight. Jeff Bridges is great as the antagonist and I didn’t feel at all underwhelmed by the lack of a real villain because they do such a good job of making the film about Tony and his struggles. Instead of focusing on a super villain, they focus on the origin story here and it totally works.

It’s funny, Gwenneth Paltrow is great as the assistant/almost love interest and the writing is smart enough not to take itself too seriously.

Great movie. Get out there and see it in the theaters!

Games and Podcasts and Forums, Oh My!

If you are reading this, then you obviously know about the podcast. What you might not know about is the forums. We have a forum set up (link at the top of the site) for you to discuss what’s on your mind about games, movies and the like. There’s a few games I am really looking forward to (as a PC gamer) and I’ve already mentioned what I think is going to be game of the year, Spore. What I haven’t talked about yet is Age of Conan - Hyborian Adventures.

Age of Conan is set in the Hyborian world created by Robert E. Howard. The game is an MMORPG and is supposed to be everything you would expect from the Conan name.  Everything from creating your own version of Conan to living the life of a humble carpenter can be done in the game. I’m gonna say this game has all the B’s gamers love. Blood, Battles and Boobies. What more do you need?

Check out some of the screenshots, art and movies at http://www.ageofconan.com/ and then let us know what you think in the forums. I’m going to be discussing this game in a future podcast.
